Gargoyles — Guardians of the Gothic
I first became interested in gargoyles while looking at them carved into the great Gothic cathedrals of Europe. High above the ground, they stare down at us.These strange creatures were placed on sacred buildings as guardians. I see them as protectors, warnings and watchdogs against Evil.
From Cathedral Stone to Silver
The medieval sculptors decorated Europe's great churches with saints, biblical figures and angels, beasts, monsters, grotesque faces and fantastical creatures.
Designing the Gargoyles
My designs started as inspirations while visiting the grand cathedrals of Europe. From wax sculptures to creatures in metal, they are also practical, as they protect the wearer, just like they protect the Holy churches.
